September in San Antonio: Things to Do, See & Enjoy

by Michelle Macom

September is a fun transition month in San Antonio. Summer isn't quite finished, but fall is getting closer, football is back, Hispanic Heritage Month begins, and the city's calendar starts filling with some fantastic cultural and outdoor events.

This month, families can start with Vulture Awareness Day at Eisenhower Park on September 5, a free all-ages event featuring rescued birds and hands-on activities.

The weekend of September 12–13 brings one of the city's signature cultural celebrations, El Grito San Antonio at Historic Market Square, with music, folklórico dancing, food, vendors and the official civic ceremony Saturday evening.

The celebrations continue at Pearl with a Mariachi Showcase September 13 and Viva Dieciséis September 15.

Then mark September 25–26 for Jazz’SAlive at Civic Park at Hemisfair. The free two-day festival returns for its 43rd year with a major lineup that includes Arturo Sandoval and Delfeayo Marsalis.

Fall officially arrives September 22, making this a great time to start preparing your home for the change of season. A few simple maintenance projects now—HVAC filters, gutters, weather stripping, exterior lighting and landscaping—can make the transition into cooler weather easier.

And if fall has you thinking about a move, there's no need to wait for spring. The right time to buy or sell depends much more on your goals and circumstances than the season on the calendar.

Whether you're staying put, thinking about selling, searching for your next home or simply curious about your property's value, I'm always happy to help you understand your options.

Here's my question for September: If you could change ONE thing about your current home before the holidays, what would it be?

I'd love to hear your answer. 🏡❤️
